Initially, I was having trouble getting my 95 jeep to start, took it to the shop and found out that my ECM was bad. I put a refurbished ECM in and that solved the problem, and everything was working fine for a few days. Then.. the jeep started skipping a beat every once in a while on the highway, then it got worse and more frequent, and now the engine will just shut off while I'm driving, and usually starts back up right away but not always, and the check enigine light does not come on.
Do I need to do some kind of reset on the system with the new ECM, or is one of my sensors going bad?

To reset the system, disco the batt for a few min but this sounds like a ground or crank position sensor issue. Check all your ground points.
You can also have check engine codes with the light off. give it a shot, here is how: http://www.jeepforum.com/wiki/index....k_Engine_Codes

I agree with Rusty, my guess would be CPM. I just changed out mine for doing the same thing.

I checked the codes. each of them made sense and are not the issue. But a 76 flashed and I cannot find what this code refers to, any idea?

Is it possible you are getting a 13???? Just dug thru my 94 shop manual and there are no codes after 63

i tried it a few times, no 13. I read a few other posts, which mention the posiblity of the MAP, so I was hoping to get confirmation of that

When my CPM went south no codes showed up because it was intermitant like your problem is. My check engine light never came on and it took a year for me to figure out what the cut out problem was. The CPM is pretty cheap. Like I said earlier I think Rusty was on the nose.

I'll give the CPM a try first thing tomorrow, hopefully it'll work. Thanks for the suggestions

swapp out the crankshaft position sensor and took a drive. Seemed to work fine for a few minutes, but then it started quiting on me again. First two times just when i came to a stop (I have a full tank of gas), then quit a few times while driving back home. Checked the codes and still getting 12 76 33 55. Any thoughts on what to try next?

To start with, I would reset your ecm again by removing the negative battery terminal for a spell to clear out the stored codes and see if that crazy "76" comes back. Something screwy there.

left the negative unhooked for 25 min, still getting the 76. Just re-checked the grounds and re-tightened them all, gonna go take it for a drive

That wasn't the fix either. A few other posts mentioned the MAP sensor and the TPS sensor. Should I think about changing one or both of these, or because there are no error codes refering to them move on to something else

Code 76
I guess I need to ring in on a code 76.
http://www.troublecodes.net/chrysler/89-95jeep.shtml
This is a later list of faults. I dont know why you would be flashing a 76 though. The codes are suppose to be sequencial and the 76 is out of order. 76 is a fuel pump resistor code but I thought the resistor was replaced on the YJ with a resistive line on the controller. The symptoms would match what you are seeing though.
