There's your sign that you have too much initial advance. The manifold vacuum is adding too much for that base setting of 8 BTDC.

Every engine is different as far as what the timing marks actually read. Pointers/marks can be off of true top dead center. 8 degrees is just a starting point. Feel free to change it til YOUR engine runs well...then adjust the carb.

Thanks. I appreciate you chiming in to add that. What does that mean? I should set my timing lower than 8 btdc? I've always thought the engine sounded better when set lower.

Anyways, back to my real issue. What causes the problem with my acceleration? Is the mixture too rich or too lean? Could it be the accelerator pump? Because I'm having the problem when I am accelerating. What about the fuel pump?
