E brake not to tight

Well my e brake doesn't seem to be tight enough. I put it in gear and pu the e-brake on when I park in the driveway. It's not that slanted of a drive way, but you can hear the jeep creeping back real slow. It stops after a while but is there a way to tighten the e-brake or would I have to get a new one? I can't get up on a rock and get a poser shot because the E-brake wont keep the jeeps tires on the rock, it just slowly rolls down.

I have to put mine in gear when I park on a slant haha

This is another 'You know you're driving a YJ when...' moments!

I don't know about other YJ's but my ebrake is pretty weak too and I would LOVE to get a nice, solid brake with it.

Any YJ jeepers out there got good ebrakes?

You might want to go to jeep.com and check your vin # to see if the e-brake recall was done on your jeep! It was for that very reason.

You can always put a 8.8 in, I thought the e-brake recall was because it would release itself, not for slipping.

First try adjusting your rear brakes.I don't know if '94 models have the little cable that hooks to the bracket for the adjuster stop but if the cable breaks then your shoes can back off out of adjustment. Also if your shoes should happen to be worn out it won't help matters.I had a combination of both.Slapped on new shoes and adjusted them, everything is tight.

The E-brake Recall is bogus, I just had it done and all that they do is just replace the pedal because the factory didnt reinforce it well enough.

Not shure why you think it is bogus, Many of us had it done and prior to it, were always having the parking brake release on its own. Was well worth the time IMHO.

Well in my case it was bogus because the only difference was that the pedal no looks like new versus dirty and it was functional and nothing changed other than getting a new pedal. I never had it relase at all it worked fine, I just did it because I thought that if they recalled it, must have been for my own saftey, but it dont do anything different than my old one did, thats all that I was saying

If you follow the e brake cables you will see a adjustment. It is at the rear of the Jeep on the floor of the tub. (before the fuel tank) There is a nut on a rod that you can tighten to put more tension in the cables. Spray the heck out of it before you even try to adjust it!

If I recall correctly when I was buying the jeep I ran a carfax and I do remember seeing the e-brake recall. I'll see if I can tighten it

Before the e brake can be properly adjusted the normal brakes must be properly adjusted and working freely.

I replaced my shoes and springs, replaces the fluid lines, bled everything, adjusted the star wheel and now the things stops on a dime. After that I replaced the e-brake cable and after adjusting that it will hold on any hill with ease.

The whole job including new calipers and rotors in the front, shoes and wheel cylinders in the back, new hard lines, new cables and fluid only cost about $200

Does anyone have a pic of the adjustment for the e-brake? I always put a stick shift in gear when I park in addition to using the e-brake, but on the YJ it's out of necessity on pretty much any hill. I've already checked and it was not a recall eligible vehicle either.
Thanks in advance.

It is just a nut at the end of the primary cable where it splits for the left and right side, just about right under the drivers seat.
