We are dropping the fuel tank to put in a new fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. Any other projects we should undertake as long as the tank is dropped?
This would be a great time to install an after market bumper if you do not have one. Or install some brackets on the inside of the rear cross member to strength it.
If you see a square plastic container (in the tank) that the fuel pump sits into you may want to rip it out. I say this because they will warp and bow in causing your float to hang up and only read 1/4 or 1/2 tank.
I did that 7 or 8 years ago with no issues and it fixed my stuck gas gauge.
In addition to all the good suggestions above, when I dropped mine the sender was not working properly so I used a pencil eraser to burnish the sector. After that the resistance was linear as I swept the float through its range.
I replaced all my hoses with standard fuel line hose.....I have had no problems
