Drain plugs

Anyone ever succesfully modified the drain plugs in there Jeepsothe stay in? Mine had a set when i bought it but the gaskets on 'em were shot and after i took 'em out once they always popped out. So I bought a new set a few months ago ($3 a piece and I have like 10 holes too!), they've come out again. Especcially annoying is the one by the drivers seat near the pedals. Every time you go through a puddle the back of your leg gets soaked! I asked the guy at the Jeep dealership(learned long ago to avoid the dealer if at all possible), if you could use the ones out of a new Jeep, the rubber plugs, but he said the plug was smaller than the hole or something. Has anyone found a good solution to this quirk, has anyone else even had this problem, or is this another case of Amos being mad at me for not playing with him enough?

I bought hard plastic ones at Home Depot in the "Fasteners" section, identical size and shape to factory. Cost under a buck each, never come out.
