Ok you have a bad ground. the ground for that is located behind the e brake peddle on one of the bolts. It comes off the connector that you attached the fuel pump wire to so that should make it easier to find.

A 89 yj with a 4.0 aw4 sye out of an 92xj. Now the hard part is done time to get it up in the air just a bit. Working on 8.8 with 3.73 and lsd for the rear. and new D30 hp with 3.73 .
For those who have not figured this out I'm old school but can handle the new too.

ok, got the fuel pump figured out, I dropped the tank a 3rd time, took the pump out and tested it, it was a no go, I beat it around, and put 125psi of air through it and still nothing, so $91 dollars later, we had a pump that worked...

hooked up the battery, primed the fuel system and turned the key, and then turned the key again, then turned the key again and again and again and again and again and still nothing... so i called dodger... after talking to him, we figured out the fuel lines were backwards... i fixed that and then we tried to start it again only to hear a doublebarrel shotgun go off under the truck... so we took the cap off to find we were 180 out, so we played with the timing for about and hour and i think i have it right where it needs to be now, but won't be able to test it untill tomorrow. so I should have a running, roaring, small oil leak from the rear main seal, engine tomorrow. after i get it running, and drive it for about a week to make sure the engine is good and nothing else is needed at this point i will be dropping the oil pan to do only my (in the upper teens) rear main seal... it's become a part of life to me, i've owed 3 jeep cherokee's, 2 wranglers, a loaded hemi commander, a willys 53' delivery van, an original mb3, and a 54 willys truck and anything that has had a 4.0 in it i've always had to replace the rear main... i'm not saying it's a bad motor, i love the 4.0, but for some reason they always go out on me... and just for the record because i read a post last night about mileage anniversary...

Don't jump the gun on the rear main, for some reason these 4.0's will weep a bit after they sit a while, may not be permanent.

Here is what I found out about the o2 sensor. Since you have a universal o2 sensor what ever wire you have going to pin 41 (ECM) will connect to the black wire coming from the o2 sensor (sensor feed to ECM) . Pin 4 (ECM) wire will connect to the gray ( grey) wire (sensor ground) . The other two will connect to the white wires( heater) no polarity to those.

Have you tested the fuel pressure with a gauge?

There is a schroeder valve on the fuel rail that you can use a gauge on.

pour half a cup of gas in the throttle body and try to start it, if it starts, your problem is in fuel delivery, if it doesn't, it's somewhere else.

Yeah, not trying to interfere, you're doing better than I could explaining without being there in person to see it. I'm a little impatient on fuel problems, heh, I always get to the "dump fuel in the throttle body" part sooner than most I guess

Hey at this point I'm about to my end without actually being there to see what has been done or needs to be done. So any subjection are more then welcome on my part or his. The part that has me baffle is the fact that he can not read the code out of the ECM.
