Distributor problem

I seem to have a problem when it runs it sounds like I have a small random misfire and you can feel it PUFF out the tailpipe and when you unplug and cap the vacuum to the distributor it seams to run a bit smoother with almost non existing puffs. I have replaced cap rotor wires and plugs. Should I replace distributor or ignition coil???

Hook up a vacuum gauge and see what it tells you. Check for vacuum leaks at the same time.

A compression test is also in order.

Replacing parts randomly is expensive.
