Direct me to a dana 44 fact sheet please

Alright so I picked up a dana 44 from an old waggy but I've got no clue what year it came outta. I'd like to know so I get can the right parts etc. before I put it in my yj. anyways it's driver side drop disc breaks, vaccume 4wd 6 lug and the gear ratio is 2.73 or somewhere right in there. Any idea what it came from? I'm think early 80s. Thanks

Some times the manufacture date is stamped in the ring gear. Narrows it down to within a few months usually.

I believe the late 80's to 82 and some 83's had the vacuum disconnect in the axle. that should give you a starting point for the year.

My old CJ had a manufacture date of 8/74 and this gear set dated 7/8/74

This YJ had a vehicle manufacture date of 06/26/91 so I interpret the date on the ring as 5/29/91

So they are manufactured within a month of build

There should also be a number stamped on one of the axle tubes.

Most times on those DATEs you talking about. They are not days or months. Its a series number followed by year.
7th batch and run 8 with the year being 74..
They do this with tires too.
but it could very well be the date they machined it

It takes days to produce a batch and could be weeks before that batch is machined.

with tires it tells you the actual week and year of manufacture, first 2 numbers are the week (based on 52 per year) and the second 2 are the year.
