detroit truetrac?

ok! i have just started to safe money together and buy lockers for my yj, I like the fact that the detroit truetrac is only $240, so i was wondering if any of you have had this product and wanted to know how well it performs and all the up's and down's it has? by the way i want to put them in my front and rear Dana 30 and 35 with stock gearing.

summer 02 I swapped a D44 and installed a truetrac in it. All seems well. Theres a trail I went on before and after. B4 with 29x9 street tires and the D35 with factory limited slip, after D44 true trac, 2.5 in lift and 31x12.5 x terrains. There are some parts with large smooth boulders that before the tires would just slowly spin on and I would not go anywhere, next time out with mods, never stuck anywhere, once or twice a rear wheel would come off the ground and I'd stop moving, applied a little brake and the tire on the ground would connect and I'd start movin again. I was told the true trac is the best of the limited slips out there, stong as well.

go for it, but they are limited slips not lockers. But also much nicer on the road and easier on the axles. I would regear while you are doing it though. you have to reset the gears anyway since your changing the carriers.

Tru tracs are limited slips. They replace your carrier so you have to set up your gears again, which would be really dumb not to regear. Get a lunch box locker if you dont want to regear.

I just got done installing an Aussie Locker in the front D30 of my wife's YJ. It was a fairly easy install and you don't need to pull the carrier. It has 3.54 gears BTW. Tested it out in the back yard where normally it would get stuck (climbing wood pile) and it did not even spin a tire! With shipping and taxes it was only $260 and well worth it in my mind. I would start in the front and if you feel you need the extra traction then do a rear locker. Our YJ only has 31" MT's and my wife doesn't do anything extreme....YET!
