Deleting computer

Okay so i need someone's help. I have an '89 Wrangler with a 1978 AMC 304 V8. I'm looking to delete the computer completely. Would I beable to use a HEI Distributor or will it not completely delete the computer? Thank you! -Rich

If you can find an HEI for that, it should be a stand alone system and just need power(and tach out if you want it)

If you have a 304 in it now, what is the computer running? Or are you referring to the ignition module?

Back in the late 80s and early 90s the computer really was for dwell, carburetor adjustment and turning on the annoying light that told you nothing.
The HEI system is independent of any external influence, as long as you don't have one of those original carter carbs or an after market FI system there is no computer required...so all you need it for is turning on and off entertaining lights on the dashboard.

Does it have some sort of 1978 "computer" in it? If not and you're talking about the'89 ECU, it's not doing anything anyhow. Also I think CRT has a HEI for that motor, not 100%, but it seems like I checked with them before.

You can't trust it. It may be out to get you.

timatoe and NHfireLJ like this.

With your help I will resist the urge to buy a chrome grill guard for yet another day.
