I have owned the yj for over a year now. I traded my built zj for this jeep and when I did the trade I new I had alot of work ahead of me but I did it any way! I am far from done with my build but I feel It's going in the right direction now. I would't trade it for the world (my kiddos would kill me) the next big mod will be full metal cloak armor and 37s, as well as a trail-gear rock defense sport cage (I have this already just need to get it burned in) :2thumbsup:

Jeep History:
Well this is my first Jeep. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted one. Well, here we finally are! After 15 yrs of being behind the wheel I've become a Jeep owner!!
I've named her Chloe. She's a Jersey girl and I could tell she'd be a lotta fun so I picked her up and brought her home. I don't think my wife knew what she had agreed to. I was like a kid on Christmas driving her home. When I first saw her she looked a little different but I was already dreaming of what I would turn her in to.
Then unfortunately, the 2nd day we'd been together, tragedy struck. On my way home from the DMV we were in a pretty bad accident. I lost her for the better part of 6 weeks while she was being repaired and that almost ended my Jeep affair right then! Luckily I held out and finally got her back. Thanks to the accident she got a little bit of a wardrobe update (flares & bumper). Ever since then I've been getting pretty intimate with her, piecing things together here and there, repairing minor and major items and slowly making my dream a reality. She's my DD and I've learned a lot mechanically in the last few years I've had her and look forward to learning more. As you can see from the pictures below, we've come a looooooooong way but we still have quite a distance to go.

I got this Jeep from a buddy for free it didn't run when I got it and it was from NY so there was a good bit of rust so I got it running before leaving country and dropped it off at home. while I was gone it was rebuilt from the ground up in my local shop with me ordering parts via letters to my brother and multiple magazines which I flipped through a million times in my down time overseas. My brother oversaw the while process and presented it to me when I got home.

My jeep is the quintessential daily driver/weekend wheeler. It brings me to work 5 days a week and allows me to wheel as often as I can get out on the trails. Things break on me more often than I would like but its always a challenge to get to work come Monday morning. As much as I enjoyed building this and wheeling it, I really like that it is comfortable enough to drive long distance on the freeway or even to go cruise the mall. It really is one of the only two things I ever talk about to the girl at home and the other is the dog which is in every other picture but the ones posted. The last pic is me crawling the mall!!

Brief History:
Bought this almost stock after selling my XJ. Knew it wouldn't stay that way long. Started with a shackle lift and then found the forum and started my build thread, A Teenager With a Dream. Got rid of the shackle lift and kept up the build on a high school/college budget up to now. Learning the whole way. Future plans consist of 8.8 swap and front and rear lockers.

My wife and I bought this Jeep in TX in '10. It was pretty beat up but I felt a good base to start with for my 3rd trail rig (have had a TJ and CJ prior). Ended up with mods above over the course of a couple years. We've been wheeling it since we bought it in TX and now in AZ (soon to head to the midwest as well so it'll see some new terrain there). In TX it was mostly trailered to the trail but with as close as spots are in AZ I've driven it to the trails here instead of trailering. Its been a great rig so far, no plans on trading it for a different model in the near future.

-Specifications and modifications:
I built my Jeep to be essentially a YJ unlimited. I stretched the body and frame 14 7/8". My YJ frame was trashed, the Jeep now sits on a modified TJ frame. I am using an LJ roll bar and soft top along with modified TJ uppers to work with the YJ lower doors. In order to use the TJ frame I also had to swap in a TJ fuel tank and pump.
My jeep is equipped with the factory 4.0L engine, ax15 transmission, np231j transfer case with a slip yoke eliminator.
Rolling stock is made up of (5) 35x12.5x15 BF Goodrich Mud T/A KM2's on 15x8 American Racing baja wheels (for now, plan to buy some bead locks soon)
Rear axle is a Ford 8.8 with an Artec industries TJ swap Truss, front is a HP Dana 30 front out of an XJ. Gearing is 4.10.
During the suspension and frame swap I built a custom belly up skid plate to achieve maximum ground clearance.
I built the rear suspension myself. It is a triangulated 4 link. Lowers are 2" DOM tubing while the uppers are 2x2 square tube. Both are .250" wall. I am using Currie johnny joints on both ends of the uppers and lowers. 3" lift springs front and rear. Currently the front is stock TJ uppers/lowers and track bar. I plan to eventually build a 3 link to compliment my rear suspension.
There has been a ton of body work done to this jeep. I replaced all of the floor pans using the Key parts product. I spliced 2 YJ tubs together to achieve my stretch. I boat sided my rocker panels during my rust repair and floor replacement. The rear corners and rockers are covered in body armor that I built using 3/16" plate. I flush mounted the factory tail lights to the tub. I also replaced the YJ tailgate with one from a CJ-7
Both front and rear HiLine fenders are custom one of pieces that I built.
I raked the grill back by moving the lower mounting point out about 4 inches.
For recovery I have mounted a SuperWinch EPi9.0 winch on a home made winch mount.

I bought this Jeep as a rust bucket with every intention of repairing and selling it for a profit. The jeep was a mess, frame was junk, floors were non existant, rocker panels were rotted out, rear corners were rotten. Really it was not even a good parts vehicle! I have been building jeeps for 17 years and I was driving a JK unlimited on 37's at the time.
I stumbled upon a build of a YJ unlimited and fell in love. I immediately began gathering parts to build this into one.
It is still a huge work in progress with many planned upgrades. This is strictly a toy for me which is great as I can wheel the heck out of it with no worries about breaking!

I got my Jeep going into my junior year of high school almost completely stock. First car and first time driving a manual.

Im currently 18 years old and a freshman at Michigan Tech.
