dana 35 non c clip question

So Im swapping a non c clip dana 35 in and I noticed some in/out axle play. I know its normal for a C clip but can someone help me verify this for a non c clip? The play isnt much, maybe 1/16 on passenger 1/8 on drivers

There should be very little if any play... Bearings are likely bad.. As the collar that holds the bearing on to the axle and the bracket that bolts to the axle should have no play.

FWIW my D35 (non c-clip) has similar play in it. I doubt that actually means anything to you but it seems to still be fine.

just looked again and the passenger side, after tightening everything doesnt move now and the drivers moves a little less that 1/16. Would it be crazy to place a thing shim on the area of the retaining plate to maintain a preload and stop that play?

You need to download the FSM.... Cause there is no way to tighten the axle plate and take out play... Either its tight and right or its wrong or broke..
