No need for a case spreader, I have done lots of gear changes and never needed one. An 8.8 swap is far from a bolt in deal. You need to read up on it a little.

You may or may not need a case spreader. The point is that the OP seems to be under the impression that gears just pop right in.

I have done my share of 8.8 swaps and it is not a bolt in but only a little harder. It's all about the planning.

It really isnt that easy, planning and having all the parts is key, knowing how you are going to measure for pinion angle etc, is also key.
