dana 30 question

ok so my front ends blown. its a 410 axle i have a posi lock its open.so im kinda tight on money right now i cant aford a locker and need some help. i have a complete 307 front is there a carrier break on the fronts? i have blown spiders they dont spin its pretty much locked right now what will happen if i weld the front into posi? i have the posi lock i know the front drive shaft will aways spin. or could i take the spiders from the 307 and put them in?

IIRC: 3.54 and down and 3.73 up is the carrier break.

You should be able to use the spiders though. AFAIK they are the same.

thats what i figured so are the spiders differat too?

The spiders should be the same as long as both are Dana 30's with open diffs.

Just dont have different gear ratios from front to rear.

just a thought... if at all possible, look for a P-n-P '95 banger 4.10 axle as a replacement. It will have the larger u-joints. The posilok can be swaped over. It will cost you more in parts to re-build the 307 axle than your current one.

ok i all realy have 410s in it was a 4bannger in its life. so i was just gonna switch spiders and the outer pinion bearin. and how do you replace the pass side axle seal? please post pics of it

If you know how to set-up R&P gears, you are ahead of the game.

But, if you knew how to do that, you wouldn't be asking any of these questions.

You are looking at a few hundred $ to do that.
