D30 Axle Seal & Shaft Damage

Ola. My right front axle shaft is seriously worn where the oil seal rides. Can I reverse the seal, put in a secondary (maybe primary) seal closer to the CAD or do something else to get me by for a while? If anyone has a part number for a seal alternative it would be appreciated!

If you have a CAD there is only the one seal by the CAD and needs to stay where it is...... Swap out the 2 pc shaft with a Tj , Xj one piece shaft and install a napa 11800, in the housing and no more CAD seal...

where in Maine are you? I might still have my 2 pc shafts. you can have them...

I'm way up near Skowhegan but I appreciate the offer. I know the long term fix but I'm just trying to get a sticker and will probably move on to another Jeep by Fall. I'm trying the quick set JB weld on the groove(s) in the shaft tonight. It's worth a shot for 5 bucks and an hour's work.

If I bought your jeep, I would punch you in the ear.

Nothing personal.

You just wasted you money on that weld crap and a new seal. Fix it right, fix it once.

I think your idea is the one thing no one here would have recommended.

True, but I would have done it if I didn't want to keep it and I needed it to pass an inspection.

Any time Someone uses jb weld its funny. I'm actually to embarrassed to purchase it. However it got the job done for him and it was fairly clever.

Actually, if you bought my Jeep you would stick a TJ axle in it like I should be doing.

The JB weld worked like a champ by the way. It's only been a couple of days but the new seal that was leaking like a sieve after install is leak-free now that it actually has a surface to seal on.

I'll put it this way, I wouldn't make a thread asking the question if I already knew I was going to do it the wrong way and after we all gave fairly sound advice but I digress.

I use JB Weld when I'm in a pinch or if it's not a vital part. The last time I used it was to fix a radiator rod that was nicked by the fan while on a wheeling trip.

The op asked for alternate seal part numbers to get him by for while, that's all.
