CV Joint Price?

Howdy!!

I'm posting to my old YJ buds because more of you have done mods. Ok.....I started to get a bad sound from under the new ride. Come to find out it was the CV Joint. On the rear. I could have swarn it was comeing from the front but after taking the rear shaft out it's all good. So....Everything is closed today and I was just wondering what you guys pay to have a CV joint replaced as a rule or what a person can expect to pay (on average). Thanks for the help!!

Todd

todd, a cv joint is basically just 2 u joints mate! there is normally a ball in the middle, although i have seen a few oddballs over the years....
do a google on rebuilding a cv driveshaft, or shoot over to pirate and search there. i believe scott rebuilt his in moab, so shouldnt be a big deal doing it in a shop!
could also call around to any truck service shop around you, they will be able to change the u joints for ye no worries.

Good deal!! I'll have to check into that. The ball came out. It is all kinds of tashed. The Jeep sat for almost 2 years then I get it and go out and give her hell and well.....**** starts breaking. Thanks for the heads up on the price!! Take care!

Thanks Martin!!

I found a great site for this and I think I'm going to go ahead and do it myself tomorrow. Here is the link to a great step by step if anyone else is wanting to do it on their own.
