CV driveshaft sizing?

I want to get a SYE kit and an XJ front driveshaft to get my Jeep in the good again, but I don't know what is required as far as measurements for the XJ driveshaft to be cut and fitted properly to my YJ. What measurements do I need to get for this. Also, how will this effect my U joints i.e. size and type. Any other suggestioins or advice in going this route?

Once your SYE is installed and you are sure that your rear pinion angle is set properly, with weight on wheels, measure from each yoke from what would be center of u-joint to center of u-joint to get the proper drive shaft length. Bring your XJ shaft with this measurement to your shop of choice and they will fix you up. U-joint size will not change, still should be 1310.

I failed to mention: I have 6 degree leaf shims installed. Should I remove those to get an accurate measurement? I also have a 1" T-case drop. Should I remove both before measuring?

You probably need the 6 deg shims for proper rear pinion alignment, so keep them for the time being and only change them if needed. You can probably lose the 1" t-case drop with the SYE, that would be your decision though. Bottom line, have your rig in it's final configuration with the weight on wheels before making your measurement.

Okay, thank you. In that case, the T-case drop goes.
