Custom YJ Front Bumpers
Ive seen some of the TJ guys with the stock front bumpers cut off at 45 degree angles, but i havent seen any YJ's with the same cutoff bumper. I like the look an, being a full time student, i also enjoy the cost of such a new bumper: $0. I was also looking for a way to attach D-Rings to the front of the stock bumper, but i konw that the stock metal is too weak, but would there be a way to reinforce it, or to attach them without reinforcement? any help an espically pics would be appriciated.

Yep, I practically did the same thing ^
I bought a 4 inch angle grinder from Harbor Freight for like $30 and several cut-off wheels as well. Took maybe 15 minutes, and most of it was measuring and marking where to cut. EDIT: I meant as in the pictures...

Thanks, I think it turned out pretty good considering most of the steel came from a whole day searching at the scrap yard. I ended up with 2 2x4x1/4" peices and enough 2x2 tube to do the front and rear bumpers for $23 and some change. The HF is the 8000lb version and other than being slow it works just fine. I figured for the price (I got it for a little over $200) I would take the chance and so far it's worked when I needed it to.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing, but I have the dang chrome front bumper and my crude cutting technigues might not be so forgiving (i.e. it will probably look like sh*t if I try it)

I like how it looks thanks, but my brother brought up a good point. What are the benefits other than cool looks? I thnik it wil help with the approach angle a bit, but is it really worth it for the damage that could be done to the fenders? Ill still probably do it anyways, an if i bend the fenders, i guess ill just be forced to flatfender it.

Hey TX YJ did you build that stinger/bumper?? I am about to go buy some 2" tubing and make one that I hope looks alot like yours. I priced the tubing at 1.28$ per foot and I'll use my buddies bender and welder. If possible could you email me some more pics of it?...During the build stage, different angles ect.. Where are you in TX? Im in the Abilene area and a member of Big Country Off Road.
