Crossover Steering Help?

i Installed my rugged ridge cross over steering today and when i install the draglink that goes from the pitman to the tierod end i realize it backwards and is binding with the diff. And in the instrustions it clearly illustrates that the draglink is suppost to be in front of the tierod and not in back of it.

but now the thing is that the tierod end only installs from the bottom of the steerng nuckle on a yj and which gives me no choice but to have the draglink in the back of the tierod...

Am i missing somthing or do i have the wrong part??

i drew an image of how it looks on the jeep. The tierod end in the back on the other tierod end is binding on the diff..

I'd go ahead and try it; I can't see where this would be a problem. See if it will cycle fully in both directions without binding/interference, and if there is none, then you're good to go.

i say put it on top of the nuckle, it would be the right way and you get it up out of the rocks

you cant put it ontop ive tried. The hole is machine on a slight angle and so is the tierod end so the tierod end only fits one way.

is it possible that it's supposed to be hooked up like the steering linkage on a TJ?
on the TJ's, the drag link goes from the pitman arm to the passanger side knuckle. and the tie rod attaches to the drag link and then runs to the driver side knuckle. basically if you swap it so that the one you have labled as the drag link becomes the tie rod, and the one you have labled as the tie rod becomes the drag link.
like this,

Possibly.

Are you 100% certain that RR even makes one designed for a YJ?

While looking at the RR website - it doesn't list one for a YJ (only for TJ, XJ & ZJ) but that could simply be a website update issue.

I just got the same setup from Rugged Ridge and have heard a lot of good things about it, but haven't heard anyone complain about binding on the diff.

Well with the help of my friend we got the thing installed last night and found I can't cycle the steering completely because the tierod hits the diff when turning left and it binds on the steering stabilizer mount when all the way right.

We couldn't figure out how to move the bumpstops out so he welded a nut up to it so now it's fine. It doesn't bind and I still have plenty of steering. I couldn't get my steering wheel centered because the drag link was a little too long. That's a little annoying. But overall the setup is pretty nice.

You have to remove the DL from the TR and attatch it to the steering knuckle like this

This is the JB4x4 bracket

I was wondering why you posed a crossover steering question then posted pics of a conventional setup. I agree with Jamesx2

Your RR crossover steering has to have the tie rod go in from the front on a YJ. I have the same setup. You will have to move your steering stablizier also. I moved mine up to the trac bar bolt. It took 3 days to find out what was wrong with the set up. Here is a link to Quadractec web page for the RR crossover steering. Read the PFD file and it shows it setup that way. Hope this helps
