I am helping a buddy do a SYE and noticed the back half has a crack in the case. Has anyone successfully welded one of these or know a good source to find a replacement?
I think the best option is snagging a case half out of a junk yard. I'm sure you can find a cherokee with one. Plus it won't be too hard since it's the back half. You could weld it but you'll need someone who's handy with a TIG welder and has done aluminum before. It's a little tricky (compared to steel).
np231 j .... ive had one welded difficult but can be done ive bought several "junk" 231 off craigs list for between 50and 100 dollars if you get in jam let me know i think ihave one laying round
Thanks, I will check local Craigslist, if not I will give you a shout
