Convert vacuum switch t-case to electrical switch

Does anyone know or have seen an NP231 t-case converted from vacuum switch to electrical switch? I don't know if it even doable but the fact that my 700r4 tranny crushed my vacuum hoses once make me thinking of going electrical switch. Please advise. I have though about getting an electrical switch t-case but it probably not cost effective.

Thanks for your suggections

Don't mess with a electrical switch. I would buy a posi-loc for $150 or make one myself for $10. Check this website to see the instructions for a homemade unit. http://home.earthlink.net/~stevenschreiber/cabledis.htm

Man... I can't think anyone would have though about doing such thing. Very simple and ...cheap (I guess that's what jeep owner need since our mod journey never end) I don't know how effective it get on the trail yet but I gave you all the salutation.

Now question of the un-clear, what 's the procedure to engage 4wd? transfer case lever goes first, then the added lever or the other way around?

Thanks

Either way. You could engage 4Lo on the transfer case lever and not engage the manual lock and have 2wd Lo.

I just installed a 12v electric soleniod onto my disconnect this last week, it kept me from having to drill out any holes into my housing. I'll take it off and take a picture of it this weekend when I put my engine back into the jeep (89' wrangler, 2.5L I4)

I did the homemade posi-lok this weekend, only cost $25 including the shifters, cable, cable stops, and a couple of new drill bits. I used a twin shifter from a ten speed and made a hand throttle at the same time.

The guy at the bike shop was dumbfounded when he asked what the shifters and cable were going on and I told him, "That big red jeep out there. <pointing>" hehehe.......it was classic.

Hehehe....Yeah, I explained it to him, he actually thought it was pretty cool once I explained it all to him.

I have tried it out, work way better/more reliably than the old vacuum system ever did. I play in the mud at work (we've got a great big truck yard) every time it rains, so the cable shift has gotten a workout the last week, no problems at all thusfar.
