clutch overheat?
i have a 1990 YJ, low mileage, but already required one clutch change 10,000 miles ago. the following episode only happened once, and has not repeated itself since. i was driving in heavy traffic a few months ago, on a mild upwards incline. unfortunately i had to depress my clutch about a million times in this stop and go traffic, while slowly inching up this hill. all of a sudden the pedal became VERY soft on me, going all the way to the floor with little to no resistance, though i was able to change gears. the pedal stayed "soft" for the next 10-15 minutes. i was convinced i would be unable to continue and be stuck on the middle of this hill. fortunately, that did not happen. after the traffic eased, the pedal "resistance" eventually returned to normal and it has not "softened" since. granted, i have not been stuck in slow motion going up another long incline since this happened. clutch seems to be working fine now. anything i need to worry about?
