Clunking in rear, dana 35?????
Just replaced rear diff assembly because the other was shot. Replaced with used unit. Checked it out thoroughly before installing and everything was tight and the oil was clean. Everything being bolted in drove it in parking lot and getting a severe clunking. Can't seem to figure what triggering it. Does not happen often, maybe three/four times in 5 minutes. Help.....

Is it that the axleshafts are moving in and out maybe 3/8" or so? If so, that's normal and required because of the c-clip design of the Dana 35c. It can clunk when doing left and right turns as the rear-end moves side-to-side. And moving this to the YJ forum... though the issue is the same with a Dana 35c in a TJ too.
