Clunking/popping in front end

I have a clunking/popping noise in my front end. Usually surfaces when making slow speed turns of 15mph or less. Especially does it when in parking lots. It sounds like its the power steering pump. Does this sound reasonable? I've heard of whinny pumps before, but not ones that popped or clunked.

Check your u-joints in your axle shafts. If worn badly, you will get all sorts of clunks and pops.

Mark.

Mine makes the same noises. In my case it's my tie rod rotating when turning the steering wheel... it doesn't do it every time though. With the lift, the drag link is now at an angle, which sometimes makes the tie-rod/drag-link assembly rotate. I had someone rotate the steering wheel back and forth while I looked under the front end. It did this with my old worn out parts and still does with the new tie rod and drag link i installed last year.

U-joints are fairly new. I installed a jks quick disconnect track bar recently, but it sounds like its coming from withing the power steering box.

Unless your steering box is lose it should not make a clunking sound, just a wining nose which is not uncommon either. You could add a stiffner to the steering box and see if that helps. I have a super pump and it still makes noise but does not clunk. As mentioned my tie rod seems to be the culprit making my popping noise. Does it happen at a particular turn (to the left or to the right) or acceleration?
