CJ windshield frame on YJ

The windshield frame on my YJ is in bad shape. I work with a guy that has a CJ and noticed tonight that it doesn't have the 2 ridges at the bottom of the windshield and liked it better than the stock YJ frame. Does anyone know if the windsheild frame from a CJ will fit on a YJ? Is the glass the same also?

it wont be perfect but can be made to fit. i have a fiberglass cj frame and im not sure if it doesnt fit quite right due to the shoddy construction or not. now that i think of it when i had the glass put in, i never told the shop it was a cj frame. im going to assume its the same glass.

The windshield hole in a CJ windshield frame is smaller (and obviously, the glass also) so the whole assembly will fit a YJ but you can't swap just the glass.

the frames will swap, but there are differences. the CJ frame will NOT have the bolt holes for the spreader bars that go from the roll bar to the windshield frame, and the glass is different. I don't know for sure about the hole for the glass being different, but the attachment method for the glass is different. the CJ's use a rubber gaskt that goes inside the windshield frame hole, and holds the glass. on the YJ's, the glass is glued into the frame(on the metal, on top of where the CJ gasket would go), and then a "trim gasket" is placed over the glass.

In addition: the hole for the holddown knobs won't line up. And the wiper parts of a YJ and CJ are different.

I was always told that the windshields in YJ's are ALOT thicker than CJ's. Of course, the guy that told me that was trying to sell me another frame for mine when I was looking at a CJ frame for mine. I ended up going back with a YJ frame.

Defroster vents are different too, but as stated it can be made to work. I just used a CJ cowl seal on my YJ and it actually fit better than the original.
