You want to buy mine? . I found if you change enough parts, dork with enough wiring, and modify everything else in your truck, the books don't apply any longer. :2thumbsup::cheers::cheers2:
I have both; had the Haynes longer. Each has an area that they cover a little better than the other, so I think you need both. If you can only get one, I like the Chilton better for electrical stuff.
IMO they both do well as in the garage books. Anything that is not thoroughly enough covered in either book can be supplemented fairly easily using the forum's search feature and once you've been under your rig for a while it is easy enough to do most operations without using the book at all. If you want the end all of books look for a factory service manual on amazon or ebay. To be entirely honest though I've referenced my Haynes Jeep book twice in total and for my Mitsubishi I've referenced the FSM once and the Chiltons that I have for it has never even been opened.
x2 what Castr8r said. I have found that one is always a little better then the other in some areas. Chilton's electrical seems to be more detailed. I use both and compare...
Going to agree here, I have both haynes and chiltons and they each have their own +/- compared to the other.
I also have a '90 FSM that I drag out if I desire. The haynes and chiltons get the greasy fingerprints, the FSM gets photocopied when I need to have it while working.
