check engine light and continous engine hickup
okay just recently ive been getting the code 41 which is the alternator field and i have the throttle position sensor code too. i just cleaned the tps and it seemed to make a little difference but the engine is still having random studders or hickups. I dont know if it has anything to do with the alternator cuz even tho im getting code 41 im not losing voltage or an other symptoms due to not charging. does anyone have any clue what the problem could be??

If you're getting the TPS code and there are random stutters, definitely replace the TPS, IMO.

Your random stutter is from the failed altenator. I have experienced the same issue.

The alternator fault is an absolute measurement done from the PCM. The alternator or the wiring to the alternator is bad. Check the FAQ for the alternator upgrade and do the scrap yard pull for a replacement. Worry about the TPS after you have fixed the alternator. It can cause bogus faults because of the voltage fluxuations .

Then loosen the belt, remove the wire from the alternator, unbolt it (2 bolts) and swap it out. The reverse the procedure to finish up, hooking up the battery negative cable last. Max ![]()
