Changing master and slave cylinder

I just ordered a complete kit and was wondering how difficult it would be to change out my old one. Anything special I should know about? I have a '94 Wrangler w/4.0 and the slave is external on the transmission. Thanks for the help

Congrats on ordering the complete kit. It's much cheaper that way since the slave usually fails after the master.

It's really easy to install, just a couple of bolts. I didn't do the kit, so I had to install the line on the master and slave, which is kind of a PITA. If the kit is all assembled, which I think it is, then it's pretty easy.

I just did this 2 weeks ago so here it is in a nutshell:
1. remove clip from clutch pedal under dash.
2. remove 2 nuts holding master cylinder to firewall
3. remove 2 nuts holding slave to bell housing
4. remove slave from bell housing, remove hose from clip about where the floor turns into the firewall.
5. remove master cylinder from firewall
6. take assy out from top
7.installation is an exact reverse of the above steps, with one exception.

Your new slave will have a plastic tip with a pair of zip tie looking things to secure the pushrod into the cylinder. Install it just like that, DO NOT cut the ties. When you depress the clutch pedal, the ties will pop loose, and you'll be in business. my original assy still had the zip tie things intact, but you could see where they had pulled through the holes in the casting. If you're tool poor, this can be done with a pair of needle nose pliers and a 13mm wrench in about an hour.

Reviving an old thread here... If if install this sealed master/slave kit, and I have to get a new throwout bearing or clutch disc in the near future, do I have to get another master/slave kit again? or can I reuse the same one?

thanks
