Changing from a 4" springs and rubbing wheel wells to a 6" springs (Will it help?)
Basically like the title says. I have a 4" leaf spring lift with 1 3/4" shackles and 4-6" shocks. Now my question is with this set-up, I should not be rubbing the rear wheel well with a hard top on when turning corners on it, right?
Well it is and it is frustrating the heck outta me. I am wanting to get a set of 6" leaf springs to fix this problem, but wanting to know if my 4" leaf springs could have worn out or what not. Also with the rear shocks, they do not stay stretched out or stiff, but continually change with pressure put on them right, because they are not like my truck shocks and stay pressurized to say? Please let me know. I know these sound like stupid questions, but I am not really familiar with Jeeps to much and these issues are kinda weird. Ha. Any advice/info would be great. Thanks Justin If anyone could help me post a pic of it, that would really help me in showing you guys whats going on and if you think the lift is really what the guy said it was.

Are you sure your leafs are 4" Are they sagging at all? with the set-up you have you shouldn't rub while turning corners. I've got a hard top and have 4" lift, .5" lift shackles, 1" BL and TJ flares and I clear my tires fine. I'd really tend to think your springs are sagging

I don't know if they are sagging or not. When I put it on a lift, they seem to have a LOT of arch, but when I set the jeep back down, it really compresses them. Do you have a pick of yours that I could check out and compare. |

the fact that they compress allot under the weight of your jeep is actually a good thing. the larger the arc the stiffer your ride is going to be. i personally would never put a 4" spring on a jeep that im building. many of us dont use highly arched springs to simply lift the body over the tires. this makes the space you do have in the wheelwells useless. if your tire doesnt fit within the cut of the wheel well, a common thing with larger tires, then make it fit with a bit of trimming. allot faster, easier, and better on your ride quality.

Here's the pic for others to see
![]() You should definitely have more clearance than you've got. Looking at the picture, it looks like your leafs are awfully flat for being a 4" spring, especially the rear ones... Here's a quick pic of mine... granted the hard top is off in this pic, it doesn't settle a whole lot with it on, less than an inch for sure. ![]()

That rear flare is a tj on the white one that is why you have that much clearance in the rear.
This is my setup and i know my 3 inch springs arent what they use to be.... ![]() 3 inch springs, 3 inch body, and 3/4 shackles....

I would look at a new 4 rc lift. cant beat the price. Also for that maybe lower the shackles and throw a 1 inch body on there.
if at most you could always do tj flares...
