Hello and good afternoon. I am a new member. Over the past couple of weeks I have been tinkering with a new to me piece and thought this forum might be a great place to get some advice. I am an old retired guy who likes working with his hands making different/unique parts. For the past number of years and still ongoing I have been producing Porsche aero products. My Facebook page is "Joe Toth Composites" if anyone is interested.
For some reason I became quite intrigued with the Jeep composite half door idea.
Right now I'm stuck with the issues of hardware. The hinges, latches and handles seem quite expensive. Hinges are a no brainer....I have to have them. Latch, yes the door has to close but what about handles. Both inside and out?
Dimensions are the same as factory steel doors and as far as I can tell the only difference is the latch to fit both YJ and TJ models. This can easily be overcome in the mold and trim process to have the same door fit both generations.
Here are a couple of pictures of my tinkering. Please let me know what you think and give me input or feedback on my progress thus far.
