Can't find the ID plate and paint code

I need to paint a fender and am looking for the factory paint code which should be on an ID tag somewhere. There are two tags, one on either side of the firewall but neither tag looks like the example in the Haines manual. My '88 YJ is the Sahara version with the olive green paint color.

Thanks,
Bruce

on the id tag near the master cylinder, the paint code will be on the second line from the bottom. it should be after APA and begin with a p and will be 3 digits. you can then go here to find out exactly what it is http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/search/search.pl

Thanks so much for the direction and link. Wouldn't you know, the color charts aren't posted for my '88. It says I can send them a request though.

Thanks again,
Bruce

Call your local Jeep dealer. They should be able to run your VIN# and get the paint code that way. My buddy works at the local dealer and he ran it in their program and it worked for my 88'. Then I just called my paint supplier and gave him the paint code and he mixed it up for me.

There is a plate riveted to the fire wall behind the master cylinder but the numbers are funky compared to what you were saying should be there.

Here's what it says:

CV-81- 532732 798 31
TN-BL- BFF CON RP

SAH ROM
FOG CAN
FMD SSB FCT

Edit: Well, I can't get the numbers to line up as they appear on the tag.
The 532732 798 31
BFF CON RP
SAH ROM
CAN
FCT

are all on the right side of the plate.
