Cant figure it out

My fuel pump stopped workin so i got a new on & im in the process of replacin it now. Just for kicks i hardwired the old one just to make sure thats what it was. It worked!!!! So I got out my test light & on the wiring harness that plugs in the top of the tank there is a connector that has 3 wires. Ive only got power goin to the middle wire, I know that one of the outters is the negative but the other outside is keeping my fuel pump from kickin on. i think ive checked all the fuses & all seems good. now what do i need to do?

one is ground, one is power and the other is signal for your fuel level. you fuel pump primes for 2 seconds when you turn the key before you start. so thats the only time you'll get a reading on voltage there unless the jeep is running. check your relays

Meh. I spent a lot of time chasing fuel pump problems.... The po of mine wired it directly to the stereo which got power when the key is on. I replaced my stereo and lost the fuel pump. It took me three days with the tank out in the dead of winter to figure out it was just that. And this was before my heated shop days lol
