wow guys, it was a joke. take a deep breath.

rusty good work, sentinal excellent modding, watch your step over that power, you might trip on it. <--- also a joke

burnerman, I give my money to pirate because they seem to have a better sense of humor and more of the information I need. If that changes, I'll throw some money to JF...but I doubt it will. I'm starting to understand why everyone on pirate cant stand this site. And if you want to get into pointless posts...have you read the entire thread?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

it may have been intended as a joke but it certainly didn't come off that way

some of the other mods would have banned you for it.

There is obviously alot more to do but it is something. It looks like I only have a few very small holes to fill on the pass side floor pan. Now it is my understanding that I can just fill these with weld and then grind smooth and be good? If someone can give some pointers on that it would be great.

I have a few areas where the metal almost looks like it is covered in pepper where there is small dimples in the metal. Does this qualify as "bad metal" or is it something I can just sand smooth and be done with it?

Thanx again for all of the help and advice. Definatly more tomorrow. Nobody is in town to fowel up my plans

Looking good, Im currently doing about the same thing right now. Just not half as bad. I just did my floor repairs a couple of small holes. I used a body grinder to take the metal mostly smooth kinda pitted a bit then welded patches, painted and under coated.

Next step for me is bed lining. I used under coating because it helps seal welds and sound deadens. It looks like bed liner too when its dry. It may not be the best way but it sure looks good so far.

Ok, after seeing everything in new light today I decided to take on some more grinding and to check almost every inch of the inner tub. here are some pics.

Pass seat area cleaned up alot better with only a few small patches that will be needed.

The back section of the lower tub. Also cleaned up much better. One spot besides the seatbelt areas to be patched.

I also got to work on the area around the drivers floor pan patch. Everything that you can see that is still rusty is being cut out and replaced with new metal.

Thanx again for checking this out guys. Also, any advice besides pushing it off a cliff would be great.

OH YEA, and the welder comes home TOMORROW

My only other advice is to invest in a good tube of body caulk it seem like all mine is cracked and peeling out. You might find more rust in the seems like i did anyway keep us posted

My plan for those areas actually is going to be to either run a weld bead down each seam or spot welds till they are filled.

If I could make a suggestion - pull the carpet and back seat out before you go to crazy with the grinder and welder. An errant spark could put your whole project on the back burner - literally!

Good work so far - and I am probably going to start a project like this for my GF's YJ.... we found seatbelt bolts that are rusted into place with some small holes all the way through near where the bolts mount.

Well, not too much jeep work today. Spent some time with the rugrat and family. But, I did score this:

Will be spending some time and practice setting it up and running some beads before attacking my truck. It was definatly an expensive day

I opted not to get the work cart because it was too "chinsy" IMHO. Instead I will be building one.

Thanx again to everyone following my work. Will definatly have ALOT more progress this week.
