Can I remove?

Hi! Stupied ? Can I remove the EGR Thats on the intake manifold just below the carb, I made a piece of 1/4" alumn plate to go over the two holes and now it won't start? the egr was not working before I startedand the Jeep ran fine. Thanks for any help. Joe100

don't know why it won't start but my EGR has been gone for years. must have knocked some thing loose while working on it.

As long as the holes are blocked off independantly from each other it will be fine. But if air can get from one hole to other you have crated a huge vacuum leak.

If the holes are blocked you have another problem as to why it wont crank.
