Can anybody confirm this alternator bracket part number?

Hello all. In the midst of my 4.0 swap, and the donor motor didn't come with all alternator mounts.

This is a '94 4.0 out of a '94 going into my '95 Wrangler.

I have a new Grand Cherokee alternator, and I have the upper AC/alternator mount already installed. I do not have the lower bracket, or brackets. Do I need more than one? I think I just need Part No. 5300 6869, but part retailers list this as a Cherokee part.

Can somebody confirm that I only need Part #13 in this diagram (5300 6869)?

The upper mount that I already have installed looks like so:

Cheers.

Is 14 the upper you already installed? I don't think there is another mount. I think the lower just bolts to the mount on the alternator and hole on the block. Am not at my jeep right now so can't confirm.

Thanks, but no, the bracket I already have is the upper alternator bracket / AC compressor mounting bracket, as pictured below. I need the bracket that goes below the alt. Unfortunately the lower alt mounting hole doesn't bolt straight to the block.

Here is a pic of mine with the gc alternator. Only difference could be I have the 2.5l, but I would think they are similar if not the same.

If you look at this post ^, it says 2.5l but then also lists the 4.0 below as an application. I am not sure if all this helps, but I can't seem to find a 4.0 listed bracket. There is one I keep finding on eBay right now for 9.00 and free shipping.

Hope all works out.

Great picture and info gunshow. Did you take that picture just for me? If so, thank you.

Anyway - I'm still working on this one. Here is the rest of the parts diagram page (I had cropped it earlier):

^ This leads me to believe that the 4.0 is in fact different from the 2.5.

I think I still have the bracket you've shown me from my 2.5l; if so I will check tomorrow. I'll let you know. Thanks.

Wonder if #2 in your diagram is the bracket?

Looks to me like you will need 13 and 14, sandwiched between the alternator.

Yep, damned confusing. No. 14 is just for the XJ Cherokee as per the parts list. No. 2 in the diagram looks similar to No. 25 (the bracket in your photo), but I don't know.

And in your photo, I think you are missing No. 3, the 'Brace'! I know I have that part from my 2.5l and you can have it for free if interested, as I likely won't need it. We'll know tomorrow ....

Humm will have to look into that! It seems they are different. I keep finding pics for expired eBay listings. They are close but definitely different.

Well, looks like I sorted it out. I got the bracket & hardware at a local junkyard, All-American Auto Wreckers in Patchogue, Long Island.

I've concluded that it's just a poor parts diagram. The part I needed was Part No. 5300 7606, "BRACKET, Alternator and A/C Mounting", part no. 25 in the parts diagram.

It's used on the 4.0 in the YJ, TJ, and others, including the Cherokee.

Looks like this:

Hope that helps somebody one day.
