I am working on rebuilding my 90 yj with the inline 6 and I noticed something odd while replacing the timing chain. I noticed that the cam has some wiggling front to back. I measured it after tightening the new sprocket to spec and it has about 1/4 in of play. I was wondering if this is okay, is an easy fix, or time to find a chevy 350. Any help is appreciated.
Yes this is perfectly normal on that engine. See that little spring loaded pin in the middle of the cam sprocket bolt, it helps control it.
