What day do you plan on leaving ? I live in amarillo and could give you a few pointers on where to go and what to see around town.

I do have fuses but no ponchos yet, we were just discussing that. I think we are going to have to make a wally world stop in the morning so we will pick some up then. Lost the GPS cord, gots to get one of those.

Ok folks, all packed up and ready to roll about 0500 in the morning. I think and hope we have all of our bases covered, if not though, it is not like there is not a place to get something out there if we need it.

Hank is a little jealous he is not getting to go!!!

Well what you see there is what we are going to have..

Does anyone think I will have a problem carrying the 33X12.50 spare on my tailgate rack for that far?? I have the stuff to build my swing out carrier but have not got it done. This is a borrowed spare and I don't want to break my tail gate down. It all seems pretty sturdy to me but I know there will be a lot of bouncing down the interstate also. Had to take rear bumper off to mount the thing.

no idea on the spare size but have fun and if you have trouble anywhere, post it up and, i imagine, a few people will be near enough to help

My Jeep is very similar to yours and I had my 33 on the tailgate for a short while. From what I saw with mine, I think there is a reasonable chance of damaging the tailgate or tub over that much distance.

You don't have a lot of choice at this point, better to have the spare and risk cracking some sheet metal.

You can give us the definite answer when you get back .

My only suggestion - make sure you have roadside assistance on your insurance before you go. It's been a lifesaver for me on long trips!
Have fun!

Our favorite game is 'SMACK A JEEP' - started off as a way for my buddy to get even with his girlfriend's slug-bug fetish. Simply smack her in the face as hard as you can when you see a Jeep Wrangler and yell, 'SMACK A JEEP!!!!'

Never actually smacked anybody, but my kids LOVE the game. Now my whole family plays it - and so do my kids' friends!

Hope it's not too late to read this

If you hit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, be sure to take the Point Sublime 'road'. Great, scenic offroading experience.

I am glad I am not the one responsible for mowing your yard. You would need a fleet of tractors for that.

Nice post! I too would love to see the grand canyon! Almost made it there once, but just didn't have enough time. On the last hooray with daughter thing? My daughter went off to college for 4 years. I had the same idea. She would finish, get a job, get an apartment and start a life away from me. After 1+ years out of college she's still at home. She is working. But still under the same roof. I don't have problem with that. I like it. Just saying don't believe in it being the last hooray! They will be many more hoorays!!!!!

Good luck. I live about 10 minutes from Greenwood. I take mine on a 50 mile trip a few times a year and load up extra stuff just for that trip! Have fun.
