burning oil smell

last week my 2.5 started smell like burning oil when I stop or slow down. My first thought was it was blow by but i don't see any smoke from the tailpipe I also checked the exhaust system seems to be in good condition. any ideas

Grab the pressure washer at your local carwash and hose down the underside of you hood, your block and all related pieces .. watch for any oil drippage getting onto the exhaust pipe .. check your dipstick to see what kind of color the oil is .. check your diff-fluids and your tranny / t-case fluids to make sure that they are all the right color and smell. If anything is off, change the fluids immediatly and let us know what you see from there ..

thanks I have checked the fluids quick lube overfilled the crankcase with oil when they changed the oil I let some out and I hope this will cure the problem

Id hope so. this thread was made over ten years ago!! lol very common problem though, you learn to live with it. as mentioned, clean everything good and see where your leak is coming from

Lol, trying to do some research before I posted a new thread. I just replaced the valve cover gasket, it was leaking pretty bad, but smelled before and after. I'll do a quick degrease/pressure wash today then.

Mine started to smell like this also. No smoke coming from the exhaust, there is no oil leaks in the drive way. I looked under the hood and it doesn't seem like anything is leaking. The oil looks new when I checked it yesterday also. It drives like a champ tho, just when I first start it it smells like a dirt bike
