Im having a problem with my brakes squealing. I checked them and there is plenty of pad left, about 3/8". I took off the front wheels and sprayed the calipers and brakes with brake cleaner without any results. Any suggestions??????
You can try takeing some sand paper and scuffing the pads and rotors, the rotors will get a glaze on them after alot of use in town or hilly area's, also the pads may have alot of metalic in them.
hes right, ur pads and rotors could be fine, its just alot of heating up cooling down creates this glaze which makes it squeel. nothing to worrie about just annyoing my vw does it
Also can get a tube from parts store of product that smeers on the back of the pad to help stop the vibration that causes the sound, not sure the proper name but the guy in the part store will know what you mean when you ask for it, It goes on the back of the pad, when you install them it stayes kind of soft and dampens the vibration. I've used it and it does work, and it's cheap. I have done tons of brake jobs and use it almost every time now, and have never had it not work. good luck!
the disk brake quiet does work well, but im my experience with it, it wears off after a while and the brakes are all squeaky again. also they sell it in a spray can too.
Go to your local hardware store and buy some sticky back felt cut it to the size of you pads and stick them on reinstall brakes no more noise if that is what is causing your problem. Worked great on my Corvette
