Brake lights on all the time?

Just like the title says. My friend was driving behind me and noticed that it looked like my brake lights were on constantly. They did not change when I applied the brakes. I have just painted the Heep and had the tailights off, but plugged them back into the harness...I checked that. What could it be,...also my left blinker is sporatic, sometimes it blinks sometimes it doesn't, but it comes on? Could they be related? My right blinker is fine. I also checked the bulbs, they seem fine.

if they are on all the time I would say your brake light switch is either malfunctioning or that its out of adjustment.

You may also have a ground issue with the lights since those lights get their ground through the mounting studs (and the body)... I would clean the grounds first and see if that helps your problem.

Check the bolts that hold the tail lights in. They should have the star washers on them and they make the ground for the lights. No ground makes lights act wacky. If the grounds are good check the brake light switch on the brake pedal. Highly doubt it but after my trans swap I had to adjust the switch because my brake lights were always on. You probably have a ground issue since you had the lights off and just painted.
