Brake light goes out when turn signal on

Just bought a 88 wrangler recently. The hazards work, but the turn signals do not. The fuse is good, the flasher cartridge is good, the toggle switch "clicks."

No "arrow" dash illumination when turn signal on. WHEN APPLYING BRAKE AND TURN SIGNAL THE BRAKE LIGHT TO THE CORRESPONDING SIDE GOES OUT. So, when driving down the road and applying brake and turn signal to turn left, the left brake light will go out while right side stays on. The same thing happens to the right side when applying brake and turn signal. Where do I go next??

Check the rear bulb contacts. I think that's what it was when mine did it.
