Bracket Help PLEASE….

Had the A/C compressor and alternator go out last weekend after wheeling.

Went to change out alternator and discovered the PO had done some rework of the brackets and switched the positions of the A/C and the alternator. I would like to put it back to the stock configuration since the alternator belt came loose and squealed most of the time. But I have looked in every junk yard with-in 100 miles and talked to the Jeep Dealer but they do not make them anymore.

Main question is where can I find stock parts on line (tried e-bay no luck).

I have a ’87 YJ 4.2l: need A/C and alternator brackets.

Any help would be appreciated.

Buck

Can't really help out with the parts but when A/C was added at the dealer as an option that's when the alt and A/C compressor switched places. I've looked at my hook up and it almost looks like if you remove the big bracket the compressor is bolted to and remove it, that the alt will bolt right in there. I'd pull it apart and see. You may only need to fab up 1 brkt if any.

I'll take a look at that.

Would not care if I had to lose the A/C as I do not use it anyway.

Does your setup look like this...besides a different looking alternator and chrome pulley?

That's how mine is setup except for the double pulley on the alt. That's for your OBA right Coupe?

Ok found this bracket on e-bay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...AQ:MOTORS:1123

I would have to lose the A/C but that is ok with me.

What does the fourm think would it work?

Thanks for any help I can get,
Buck,

I have a 1990 Islander 4.2 with a/c.

I put in a CS-144 alternator and had to take out part of the old bracket. I'll see if I can find it and get a picture. You are welcome to it, if it helps.

My a/c is mounted on a flat plate directly above the alternator. Factory install.

That looks unfamiliar to what I have.

But I’ll have to take a closer look at it tomorrow.

Thanks

That eBay bracket is the correct one. My 87 also had the dealer air. I wanted to get rid of the A/C, but the problem was that alternator and compressor were driven by the same belt. Getting that bracket will set things right. I bought mine from a member here.
