lmao too
I am also interested in hearing the culprit.
I have been thinking something with the hazard switch, referencing one of ad-man's first posts about this
problem starting after activating the hazard switch.

Ok I am still pissed but it was a third brake light that the PO had installed and I actually cleaned up and fixed. I didn't notice that it was wired to both sides. Now it only blinks with the left signal. I could live with that, now the key won't turn off or come out, the dash lights won't come on and the idle tubes seem plugged again!!!
I hate this heep!

Key is the rod for the ignition switch on the steering column. Dash lights is the fuse or the connector not seated. You are almost there. What year is this Jeep?

You didn't accidentally hit the tilt wheel lever while you had the compression lock plate out did you? That can cause all kinds of nightmares inside the column.

Since the third brake light was not required on trucks until 1994 (1986 on cars), you can pull it and go back to a factory setup.

Its an 87. The third light will be smashed then swept up and in the garbage by sundown.
I did a lot of moving around of the tilt and had the whole column loose trying to get the plug out for the switch swap. I may have also over tightened the steering wheel when I put it back on. But in my mood last night I may have to replace the column now. The carb is what is really pissing me off. I have had it apart 3 times in the last week fir plugged tubes and stuck floats. Its got to go also. I have replaced fuel hoses and put a new huge filter under the hood. I have had this thing over 2 months now I think and have yet to enjoy it at all. Dont even have.plates on it yet. Cant trust it enough yet to take it to dmv.
Well like you said one more issue down. Thanks to everyone for your help and advice.

Awesome. You'll feel better after smashing the light. I did a cell phone like that one time, and it was the best thing
that could've happened to that phone.

Keep on keeping on, ad-man.

I have a gas can in the garage. I think one more drink and I just might have pushed it.in to the street and sparked it up. I was pretty much way off center by the end of the night. I think I will just let it sit for a few days.
