Body lift install tips?
I am going to be installing a body lift on my YJ this weekend. Any tips that might make it go a little faster/easier? It's a 95 with minimal rust, so not too concerned with rusty bolts...but anything else I might consider? I put one on an older suburban once...and it went on painlessly. I'm hoping this will be the same.

you don't have to lower it with a 1'' lift , i don't know about the 2'' , but i know you have to with the 3'' lift.

Two inch lift requires radiator drop, or lifted motor mounts (I won't spam you on that one...but we have them).
I've never installed a one inch lift, but I'm surprised to hear that you don't need a radiator drop or mount lift. hmmmmm.

Do you have an Auto or no?
you might have to grind away a bit at the floor where your shifters are. Might.

I guess I was just lucky, I didn't have to drop anything at all. Put them in there and off I went. I did the 1" and yes it came with all the brackets and all hardware but I didn't need it.
I'd hit the bolts with PB like said before. Also do one side at a time. I saved the one in the front for the last side if I remember right. I had air tools when I did mine but it took me no more than 45 minutes, more toward 30. Good luck. |

I did a 2" BL not too long ago. One thing I ran into was the steering shaft. There is a bolt that you need to loosen on the steering shaft (at the top near that firewall) so that the shaft would extend a little. I barely noticed it moved, but with out the extention I had a clicking in the column. The drop brackets are easy to do and everything else is self expainatory. Oh, and when you find that there are only 9 body mounts...look right in front on your gas tank on each side (you can access them through the wheel well). I had to do a search to find these. Good luck. Make sure you post some pictures when you are finished.
BTW: How are you liking the Baja Claws? |

As for the claws.....actually much better than I anticipated. They ride much quieter than my BFG M/T's did. I venture to say they are even quieter than my 31in Yokohama Geolanders. The ride is obviously a bit more harsh than the 31's previous....but that is to be expected. All in all....worth every penny. Just need to get this darn body lift on so I can wheel a bit! ![]()
