Haha. I think I was opening the latch on the swing-out carrier....though I get at least an extra 5-10 mpg when I pee in the tank. :P

Here is the thread I wrote about replacing the torque arm stud and tranny mount:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/h...ement-1075968/

For easy reference, the torque arm stud is here:
http://www.fyurl.com/rr.php?site=www...px?partID=8365

Torque Arm Bushings are here:
Energy Suspension 2-1101G - Energy Suspension Transmission Torq Arm Set in Black for 73-95 Jeep® CJ & Wrangler YJ - Quadratec

...and here is how it all goes together (last pic from thread)

Bob, early on in this you mentioned that the view of the passanger side mirror is crappy with the relo's. I'm thinking about getting a set. How crappy is it? Can you see it at all through the door opening or do you need it forward to be viewed through the windshield?
thanks, and nice YJ BTW.

Only view is through the windshield. I'm used to not using that mirror at all, though, because for a few years on my Ranger I didn't even have that mirror.

Hmmm.. Thanks, Maybe I'll rethink the relo's and engineer something of my own.

Bob the jeep is looking good. Here's a pic of what I did with my stabilizer bushing. Pretty much exactly what you're doing but I didn't put a washer in between the top of the skid plate and the nut. I need to do that come to think of it. Also, I threw away my pass. side mirror because it was useless.

Okay, finally some action. I bought a 6.0L engine out of a 2002 Sierra. 111k miles, but the price was low enough and it comes complete with accessories, wiring harness, computer, etc., and it's throttle by cable (yay). I need to make room for it in the garage now. I still need to do the rebuild on the SM465. ugh, I'm letting things pile up on me. Spring break after next week, so maybe I'll actually get productive again. The weather's getting nicer, too...

So it turns out NJ doesn't want me to do this...I called the specialty inspection station and the guy told me that the engine had to be an option from the same year or newer.

I've got my thinking cap on now.

Hrmm...

Winslow told me that whatever engine you put in has to have been an option on that Make/Model from the year of your vehicle onward. ie - I could put any 1995+ Jeep Wrangler engine in.

Asbury Park told me that if I put in the 2002 engine, I just have to pass 2002 emission standards.

Morristown told me Winslow is wrong and that as long as the engine I put in is 1995+, then it's fine.

Meineke told me that my vehicle is old enough that I would just need to pass the tailpipe test and if I put a newer engine in, they would just check the emissions on the OBD-2.

I think majority rules here. I'll just be sure not to take it to Winslow...

what ive heard is as long as its the same age or newer it doesnt matter what you put under the hood. I say dont worry about it and go to a private inspection station. Thats what i do and what i plan to do once i do a swap.

I bought a bellhousing on ebay ($100) and a dust cover plate from GM Parts Direct ($25 shipped).

It looks like I'll be going with AA's clutch kit. It seems to be a pretty complete kit and not really any more expensive than piecing them together. Novak told me I need some specialized flywheel that I couldn't find for under like $440. The pressure plate & friction disk will run another $150ish anyway, so I figure I will go with AA. I haven't decided between AA or Novak for hydraulics yet.
