Bikini/Windjammer/duster combo?!

Ok guys, I know alot of people have this set up in the summer. Does anyone have this with pics so I can see exactly what it will look like? It doesnt have to be watertight. But How sealed off would it be? Its a Jeep so I can deal with it. Anyone's input?

It's great for wind control, and for a light shower while driving.

The big stinker: If you park your baby with the bikini top, and you get a big rainstorm, the top forms a MASSIVE puddle of water (more like a lake). Since the bikini top only goes as far as the rollbar, and the doors don't close tight to the rollbar, you have a gap (anywhere from 2 - 5 inches) wide open between the two. When you push up on the top to get the water out, it almost always manages to dump a ton of water onto the seats. Big drag.

I didn't have a photo of mine, but here's one of a TJ to give you an idea:

Yeah but TJ's have that little plastic thing that curves up around the door that helps.

Here's an option, but it's a little pricey. Bestop is coming out with a YJ version of the Halftop. It's all 3 combined into 1 unit, so it's a little tighter. Also, the bikini folds back. Here's the link for the TJ one at Quadratec. I don't know how long it will be before they come out with the YJ one, but if I already didn't have the bikini top, I'd wait for this. Hope this helps some.

Yeah, we YJ owners don't have such luck.

Found another pic...shows the gap we get...

That Bestop Halftop is great. Just wish it were less than $500 bucks.

Did he say water would gather in the middle and almost allways find it's way into your jeep he was not edzactly corect. It ALLWAYS dumps right on the drivers seat .. 100 % Guaronted ..

Good luck .. I have a Safari top, wind jammer.. You can also use your factory top and rails as a half way decent deck cover..

If you're looking for a cheap alternative to a soft top I think it's a good setup. My ride came with a hard top and I didn't have the cash to fork out about $600 for a brand new soft top. I started out with the bikini top and the tonneau cover first and in February I bought the windbreaker, really just so I could take my hard top off earlier in the year and keep that cold air off the back of my neck! The windbreaker is definately great for that but as far as rain goes it doesn't really matter if you have it or not. The bikini top does a great job of keeping most of the rain off and since you're like me, a little rain on the leg is no big deal. The tonneau cover also ponds up really bad when it rains and if you don't watch out the whole back floor will end up flooded, unless you roll all the water off the back first. I think it gives my Jeep a unique look that has really grown on me....not a lot of people in my area run this setup so it makes mine sit out a little. Check out my homepage to get a idea of what the windbreaker and tonneau cover looks like.

i have a pic on my website in my sig... it was with my old crappy dig cam tho, i have the besttop "strapless" bikini top and dont have a problem with water collecting, and with soft upper half doors they only leave a half inch to no gap at the top but about 5 inches at the back, i dont have hardly any water get in, the tonneu collects some in the rain, but it has NEVER in the 2 years i have used it gotten in the jeep through the tonneu, and if you dont try to push the water off when you have it pooled on the roof or tonneu... it will roll of the back when you drive, i do this and my seat rarely gets wet, dont buy steel horse if you do, i made that mistake, the tonneu is made VERY cheaply, you could get away with steel horse on the jammer -- mine ripped but it was my fault and it is fixable, the besttop jammer is easier to put in/ take out though and is better material and the bikini on mine is besttop as well as my softtop so no complaints there. any questions just gimme a holler.

oh yeah i forgot... if you do this combo invest in a trail cover -- it just covers the cab, its great to throw on in parking lots while your at work or overnight at home if you dont have a garage, it was the best money i have ever spent...

Well here's the deal. Right now I am on my second POS steelhorse replace-a-top. The first one the previous owner bought, it broke, I had it replaced under warranty, now this one broke. I am gonna have this one also replaced under warranty. Here's the kicker, this time, when they send me the new one. I plan to sell it on ebay, take the $$ and put it toward a Bestop sailcloth. But in that in-between time I need something just to kinda keep the heat in and elements out. And once I have the sailcloth, I still might wanna keep the other set-up just because putting the full top on and off can be a real drag.

When I bought my Bestop replace-a-top I was considering to get the biknini with the tonneou cover and windjammer but was afraid of the whole water leaking problem. I'm glad I got the full top even though the other combo looks good.
