Best sounding muffler for a YJ?

Im looking at the Flowmaster 40 series or the Super 44. All I'm looking for is a bad *** sound. I've got a 4.0 w/Headers so far Thanks

Thrush turbo 2. Comes in two flavors, welded, or rolled. About $30 for rolled, $50 for the welded. Not as loud as the flows but deep rumble. People notice. Couple bonuses here...you just saved some bones for a awesome exhaust tip. In addition, a quieter muffler will make fewer people look at you, and in turn all jeep enthusiasts, in disgust. If you do any off road terrain a $50 muffler hurts a lot less when that sharp rock or loose branch you didn't see on the log you just drove over smashes it.

I have Flowmaster through Borla headers and it sounds much better, but still a little high for my taste. I wish it was a V8, nothing you put on the 4.0 will give it that low rumble of a big block motor, I love the sound of my flowmaster on my 2500 HD.

I have a FM 40 series on my 87 with the 4.2
Single inlet, dual outlet with dual pipes to the back corners - all 2-1/2" pipe
Nice deep throaty sound - I've received a multitude of compliments on it
But this same muffler on our 92 with a 4.0 sounds nothing like it
It's quieter and smother sounding than my 4.2

I installed a new exhaust in my wife's YJ a while back. Used a Dynomax Ultra Flo welder muffler and it sounds pretty good IMO. Here are a couple videos I found of YJs with this muffler. The last video is my wife doing a drive by while I was teaching her to drive the Jeep.

I have a magnaflow xl on my 4.2, cat and muffler are 2 1/2" the larger pipe gives a deeper sound. a little loud but I like it. had a guy ask me if it was a V8.

Do everything with a positive attitude, it won't always work but you'll piss enough people off to make it worthwhile.

the voices aren't real but they sure have good ideas.

The quietest one you can find, six cylinders never sound good loud, only v8s sound good piped. In my opinion... However as we all do, do what makes you happy.
