http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000914ro1.jpg
pulled a bench seat from a 94 dakota for 42 bucks... maybe 30 bucks of steel to make the frame aside from what i had laying around... going to make a cover to match the top ...a fabric store down the road has marine grade vinyl for like 2.99$/ sq ft

Too many hobbies....

Yep, that looks really good! I took the back seat out of mine too, but every once in a while it would be nice to have the option of squeezing in a third person.
Thanks for the pic!

Can you shift if a person is sitting in the middle. If I put a soda in my cup holder im bumping into it on 2nd 4th shifts. Looks real good tho. Would be fun with a girl in the middle seat!

Also with the whole picture thing can you also fold the seat up so we can see how much room there is for someone to get back there. By the way it looks really awesome!

just a diagram...the pipe i used was scrap laying around from one of those canvas tent canopy deals that i had laying around. Id say its probably 2.25-2.5". no idea what thickness but im positive its sufficient.
http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jeepbd6.jpg . i know this isnt the greatest picture but it was too cold to take it all apart. you cant really tell but theres bolts on both sides of the bracket mounted to the floor. but this basically gives u an idea. the top mounting surfaces have been trimmed and rounded off so they currently dont stick out like that and dont have sharp edges http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jeep2be1.jpg I had to remove the shroud that covered the seatbelts in order to position the seat far enough back to make it comfortable to me.... im 6'3 all legs so in other cases or depending on what kind of seat you used you might not need to remove these or even position your seat that far back. http://img60.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jeep3ge3.jpg ppl wanted to know how much room you had with the seat lifted up to climb in the back...like i said im 6-3 and i wouldnt say its luxurious or roomy but i can climb back there with ease... Overall id say this is pretty simple to do and relatively inexpensive.... id say it took me no more then 10 total hours of free time here and there... most of that was cas of trial and error and running back and forth to the hardware store for bolts... http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=jeep4el8.jpg costs seat and u pull it junk yard from 94 dakota -- 40 sum steel actually needed for the mounting surfaces -no more then 30 i had the tube i used for the feet laying around but you wouldnt need more then 3 feet --i cant imagine that being terribly expensive maybe 5-8 bucks for the grade 8 bolts id say conservatively this was done for under a benjamin... hope this inspires ya fellas ![]() I spose i could mention that i didnt use the tracks so this seat isnt adjustable.. they charged 20 bucks for the tracks at the junk yard i went to and i left them there figuring i could more then likely utilize the stock tracks from buckets but that didnt really work out due to the way the springs in the lever were. when i went back the next day the truck i swiped the seat from was a 4x4' cube haha... though im confident if i had those tracks this seat could have been made adjustable with little or no extra effort. .. |
