I've been considering the same, Line-X appears the way to go if money is no object....and seems to have the best result. But, mine isn't worth the $2k or so to spray, so am doing it my self with roll on. Considering Grizzly Grip, Monsta and maybe Durabak....Grizzly is the cheapest and has a UV resistant liner. They also mail you paint chips to check out their colors and coating.
Yup I did not see that one !! I see it requires special prep and respirator ! I plan on doing it my self in my little garage and yes I will wear a mask !
Key thing with Al's is you HAVE to have a good base for the paint to stick to...It NEEDS to have paint for it to adhere to..Will not bond to bare metal
I didn't do the outside of the body with it, but used a lot of tintable Raptor on my VW Baja, including using it as the headliner- Its been there several years now and still looks great... The Raptor kits come with the gun..
I've got a buddy that's used the Raptor on several projects. All the ones he has done have been black and they've all faded within a year. I don't know if they offer a UV additive or if the colors are UV protected, but I wouldn't want to go through the work and then have it fade out quickly.
You can stencil it with traditional spray paint. Looks cool that way.
Vinyl won't work right. You can try to seat the vinyl using a heat gun on a lower setting, but the edges are going to look uneven or warped as it contours to the texture.
Not if you spray it. In that big Monsta thread there's a guy that rolled it using different rollers etc and it came out nearly smooth. I have seen several where they sprayed multi colors to redo the stripes etc but that's way too much work for me.
for the reasons listed above, i left my 'joop' un-monsta'd and with factory paint... i didnt want any issues with the vinyl lettering. In that huge monsta thread that Tim eluded to, some people have been able to re-apply vinyl right over the monsta.

I stuck new Jeep stickers on over the "joop" stamped area... to my surprise it worked well. It's been a few years and they're on there solid.

I am relining my entire exterior with black monsta this spring (due to the new fenders and rear flares, plus have a few spots i didn't quite like how it turned out).... I'll be going over the joop areas this time around. Hope it works out for me.
