Hi, please help me decide, have to buy a 2" suspension lift kit for my 95 wrangler yj. Looking for a daily driver quality ride so my back doesn't hurt when backlashing.
My ride is a 4 cyl, 31x10.5R15, 1"body lift, no track bars and bolts torqued to 50 lb*ft, 28 psi on all terrain tires. :|

I have heard real good comments about both kits, more of OME than BDS , price on OME (old man emu) $1000 , BDS $722 dlls. Seems like a no brainer but ... i want to read your very valuable opinion if you have any of these kits installed. Please help and post only for YJ.
DO YOU HAVE OME OR BDS?
LEAF SPRINGS: BDS OR OME
SHOCKS: ANY
HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE QUALITY OF YOUR RIDE? (stiff, flexes, bone wreking, like a tj, better than stock yj, night an day, other etc.)
PROS:
CONS:
WOULD BUY AGAIN?
WINNER? :highfive:
*Quote
Have aprox $720
*Maybe willing to buy the OME springs and bushings $529, Rubicon express 1" trans drop kit $40, local ubolts and nuts, and the shocks....ohhh the shocks... ome seem expensive but are they really worth it for $110 each... what about blistein for $70 each... i have some es3000 procomp already... or what about bds shocks for $200 all four...
What do you guys think? Please help im desperate ha ha
The only thing from the ome kit that makes it the best is the springs. you can get those for about 400 bones, sometimes less. And you can get an RC ubolt kit on Amazon for about 20 to 30 bones. Then you can make a TC drop kit from the local hardware store if you need it. Then just shop around for your the shocks of your choice. You can get super nice ones for 320 or you can get better than stock for a 100 bones or so.
I had OME springs and shocks and loved them, good flex and decent ride. After about 5 years of hard wheeling they were worn out so thought I would give BDS a try since they are just a little taller. They were good right off the bat with the same ride and flex but sagged out almost immediately. I got a second set and those sagged even faster. I have not had time to pitch a fit to BDS for the second set.
I have bds and love it. 2" on 31's. Needed a to drop. Brother had ome and loved it. I went with bds for the warranty to be quite honest with you. They both flexed out the same when put to the test. Brother also has bds now.
Do OME shocks really make that of a difference?
I know they are nitro charged...
what about bds shocks that comes with the 2" lift, how do those perform with ride quality. 4 for $200 dlls?
Now i know that it all comes to the interior valve design diameters, when the shock has to displace the oil.
also they offer me blistein monotubes.
so there is so much out there and so little money
$525 ome springs and bushings, also have to buy or make the transfer kit, buy some u hooks...
$722 complete bds kit comes with all above...+ track bar brackets...
I dont have track bars right now... but considering .... maybe they ar charging me for the brackets i will not use and i could get the OME springs with other shocks for about the same price. Would it be worth the shot? or just lay back on my couch and order the complete set.
Also i like the OME because you can select the springs rated if you have a hard top, which is my case... but what if i took it off for the summer... would the ride become weird or to stiff?
Im looking for a daily driver ride...almost like a tj ha ha
IS OME better than stock?
IS BDS better than stock?

IS BDS better than stock?
Yes, OME was better that stock. Look at your travel, probably an inch or so from the bump stops.
Hit a bump bigger than that and your into the bump stops.
The big problem with shocks is they are usually valved for heavier vehicles.
The OME "sport" shocks are stiffer than the discontinued shocks they had.
Pass.
Skyjacker Hydro shocks (not nitro) are a soft shock for NOT a lot of money.
I recommend ordering 4 36r's and the bushings from OME, hard top or not.
4 Skyjacker Hydro's.
Use your Mopar sleeves, cut down a fuzz as OME springs are slightly narrower than stock.
If needed, make your own transfer case lowering kit.
1/2" should do because your not going up 4" get new grade 8 bolts at the store. It's just a spacer, not rocket science.
You can lengthen the brake lines for free, look here. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/free-brake-line-relocation-lifted-yj-s-1421561/

And get new U-bolts made locally.
Make sure you get the bushings for OME stock size YJ bushing are to wide for the springs. I put an OME lift in for my neighbor last summer. We pieced it together instead of buying the kit. We got the OME shocks also. That Jeep rides very well with that setup. Myself I will stick with my RE 4.5 springs for height and ride quality. The OME would be on my short list of springs if I had to replace my current setup. I have no experience with BDS but I have heard they stand behind their product really well. All 3 OME BDS and RE are top shelf products for our rides.

don't buy a kit. I have the billstein 5500's and they are fine to be completely honest. A bit stiff but it's a yj that's leaf sprung. What could you expect? You don't need track bars n stuff. Buy springs, shocks, and hardware separately. You'll also want some brake line extensions. I like the shocks to be quite honest. You'll be pleased with the ome/billstein combo imo. Just don't over air the tires and over tighten the shackles.
DO YOU HAVE OME OR BDS? OME 36R all the way around
LEAF SPRINGS: OME
SHOCKS: Bilstein 5100s all the way around
HOW CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE QUALITY OF YOUR RIDE? Our YJ sees more street than dirt as a daily driver. It rides as nice as my LJ on RE Springs and Bilsteins. Flexes very well on the trails (see pic below)
PROS: Great Ride - better than stock IMO; if you don't buy the "Kit" but get the springs, Bushings, from OME, get the Bilsteins from Kolak (here on the forums PM him for price) get new u-bolts, you will save a ton.
CONS: Must use OME Bushings - you CAN use other bushings, but they just don't quite fit right. Too large IMO.
so you have OME?
is it sort of a Tj ride? or better ha ha
i dont belive it can be better due to different technologies, but is OME that good?
Mi jeep with no track bars and stock springs torqued to 50 lb*ft does flex... but it is very bumpy ride and backlashes a lot like being on a burro (donkey) with a heroin overdose and i get beat up in short daily driver rides.
